The term “GM Agriculture” is short for “genetically modified agriculture.” It is a new way of farming that uses technology to improve crops. The first GM crops were created in the early 1990s. Since then, farmers in many countries have been growing them.GM crops are made by adding genes from other plants or animals into the DNA of the crop. This gives the crop new traits, such as being resistant to herbicides or pests. GM crops have been legal in the United States since 1994.<\/p>\n

GM agriculture is the application of genetic engineering to crops and animals in agriculture in order to improve productivity and food security.<\/p>\n

What does GM mean in agriculture? <\/h2>\n

GM foods were first approved for human consumption in the US in 1994 and are now available in more than 70 countries. More than 90% of the soybean crop and 80% of the corn crop in the US are GM.<\/p>\n

There is a great deal of controversy surrounding GM foods. Some people believe that GM foods are safe and have the potential to solve many of the world’s food security problems. Others believe that GM foods are unsafe and that we do not yet know enough about their long-term effects on human health and the environment.<\/p>\n
