The current Texas Agriculture Commissioner is Sid Miller. A Texas native, he was elected in November 2014 and took office January 2015. Commissioner Miller is an outspoken advocate for Texas farmers and ranchers and has earned a reputation as one of the most conservative members of the State House. In addition to his duties as Agriculture Commissioner, Miller has served as the Texas State Representative for House District 59. He was appointed to the House Agriculture and Livestock Committee, where he worked to reduce regulation of the industry. Furthermore, he was a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Public Education Committee.
